ABOUT US

Morpheus Space is a leading innovator for in-space mobility, providing cutting-edge electric propulsion systems for the New Space industry.

Our Beginning

Morpheus Space launched in 2018 from a university lab at the Technical University of Dresden, Germany, where a team of scientists set out to transform how satellites move in space. What started as research in electric propulsion quickly became a bold mission: enable scalable, efficient mobility for the new space economy. From day one, we’ve been building propulsion systems for a sustainable orbital infrastructure.

Momentum Builds

In 2019, we joined the first-ever Techstars Starburst Space Accelerator in Los Angeles, sharpening our business model and expanding our global reach. By early 2020, we had secured seed funding, opened our U.S. office in 2021, and were able to scale up development of our modular propulsion systems. As demand grew, so did our ambition.

Scaling the Future

We raised a $28M Series A in 2022, backed investors like Alpine Space Ventures, Lavrock Ventures, Airbus Ventures, InQTel and others. In 2024, we unveiled Reloaded, our mass-production facility in Dresden, built to deliver our GO-2 propulsion systems on an industrial scale. From lab to launchpad, Morpheus Space is Propelling the Future of Space Mobility.

Our second-generation GO-2 electric propulsion system delivers reliable, efficient propulsion with continuous thrust and no moving partschemicals or pressurization

Built on FEEP (Field Emission Electric Propulsion) technology developed at TU Dresden in 2018, GO-2 is designed for mass production and is a critical solution for the growing mobility needs of satellites.

"Becoming an aerospace engineer has been a dream of mine since elementary school. The ISS, Apollo, and deep space missions like Cassini-Huygens, inspired my passion to help advance humanity’s presence in space. At Morpheus Space, my role focuses on improving the capabilities and performance of our FEEP thrusters, while enhancing their performance and resilience to withstand the harsh environment of space. Through this work, I hope to pave the way for more complex and ambitious missions in the future.”

"When I joined Morpheus Space, I was asked a simple question: 'Do you prefer building or testing?' My answer was both — and that's exactly what I get to do here. As a Tech Assistant, I'm hands-on from the first component to the first ignition. Being part of the full journey, from manufacturing to testing, is what makes my work at Morpheus both exciting and rewarding."

Co-Founder | CTO & Managing Director

“It is crazy to realize that it’s already been 7 years since we founded Morpheus Space! We’ve started just with a bold vision, driven with true passion, but not really knowing what’s in front of us – but we never stopped to push for our dreams! We’ve mastered many challenges along the way, and we have grown into a real business supporting our customers and partners to make space mobility safe and simple. I’m grateful every day for this unique opportunity, the trust and support that we’ve received over the years from so many people, and for our team which amazes me every day!

A special thanks to my co-founders Philipp, Christian, Christian, and Istvan — thank you for taking the leap with me back in 2018!!”

Co-Founder & Manufacturing Manager

“It’s been an incredible experience being part of Morpheus Space over the past seven years. What started as a big adventure with just an idea, some sketches, and lab tests has grown into a full product and manufacturing process. Looking back, I’m proud of what we’ve achieved — not only the technical milestones, but also how we’ve handled the ups and downs along the way. None of this would have been possible without the dedication and spirit of this wonderful and committed team.”

Philipp Laufer

Co-Founder & Propulsion Manager

“Over the past 7 years, Morpheus Space has gone from lab-bench propulsion prototypes to powering missions in orbit. The propulsion technology got us off the ground, but building our team is what keeps us accelerating.

I'm deeply grateful to be part of this journey — and proud of what we've built together.”

Co-Founder & Electronics Manager

“Seven years at Morpheus is a great honor and a gift to me, as I helped build this company from the ground up – something I don't take for granted. The last few years have been a technical, personal, and intellectual rollercoaster. From Nano-Feep to GO-2, it hasn't been an easy path, but one with a wealth of experience and many facets. Initiating technical innovations and experiencing them in practice has always given me great pleasure. Likewise, my own personal development from engineer to manager was and remains a big step for me. Seeing the team and their individual personalities grow has been part of this exciting journey over the last few years. I am delighted to see Morpheus grow in all its diversity and to be part of the challenges and celebrations of daily working life. I am looking forward to many more years with Morpheus, and that is a wonderful gift for me.”
